At Greater Ward 1 Waterworks, our goal is to provide safe, clean, sparkling water to all of our residents!
- Serves over 2000 customers
- Not-for-profit public water system chartered by the Lincoln Parish Police Jury
- Rated "A" (the highest grade) by the Louisiana Department of Health for the last several years
- Consists of two active water wells, three elevated tanks, and miles of main and lateral pipelines
- Regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under the Safe Drinking Water Act, which sets standards for water quality and Louisiana Department of Health under Louisiana law
- New well is currently (October 2026) being developed near Hwy 821 to meet the expanding needs of the customer base
- Rates are set by the Board of Greater Ward One Waterworks District at a level to build, maintain, and eventually replace the system to achieve its mission of supplying safe water at a reasonable cost
- Rates increased in March 2026 for residential users from $3.00 to $5.00 per 1,000 gallons for usage over the first 2,000 gallons and commercial customers went from $3.25 to $6.50 based on their assigned class code. This was done to secure a loan for the new well
- We are a small operation with 3 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees. This includes 2 clerks, 1 maintenance, 1 water operator and 1 Board President who oversees the office
- Meters upgraded in recent years to allow remote reporting of water usage
